Art Deco Weekend 

The city starts the year off hot with Miami Design Preservation League’s Art Deco Weekend. Celebrating its 46th year, the three-day weekend is a time for visitors to revel in the style of architecture made famous in the 1920s and 30s. Visitors enjoy art, architecture, history, culture, entertainment, and more on the one and only South Beach during this three-day world-famous event.

Miami International Boat Show

Many Miami transplants are lured by the city’s ocean access. These boating enthusiasts may enjoy five days of perusing various floating vessels – from super yachts to sailboats – at the yearly Miami International Boat Show. Over a thousand boats and exhibitors will fill the Miami Beach Convention Center, and satellite locations will cater to those with more niche interests and those not looking to buy a boat.

Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival

Locals and visitors alike keep a big red circle on their calendars each year to mark these four days of culinary delight. The national star-studded festival plays host to more than 400 top wine and spirit producers, chefs, and culinary personalities. Now in its 22nd year, the festival benefits FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the Southern Wine & Spirits Beverage Management Center.

Calle Ocho Music Festival

For more than 40 years, the Calle Ocho Music Festival has welcomed lovers of Latin music and culture to its historically Cuban streets of Little Havana. Live music stages span 15 city blocks, which emanate Spanish-language music including salsa, merengue, reggaeton, and hip-hop during this free community event. Calle Ocho Music Festival is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, which founded the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation in 1987 to serve financially disadvantaged Hispanic youth of Miami-Dade County. Past performers include Pitbull, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente Jr., and Gloria Estefan.

Ultra Music Festival

More than 20 years later, what began as a small one-day festival has evolved into the world’s foremost electronic music celebration. Electronic music aficionados descend on Miami’s Bayfront Park each year to dance to the genre’s biggest names including Marshmello, Tiesto, and David Guetta during Miami’s Ultra Music Festival.

Miami Beach Pride

Celebrating all things LGBTQ+, this festival welcomes 170,000 merrymakers each year, making it one of the largest Pride events in the world. 2023’s festivities will include a pool party, music festival, and gala, along with its world-famous parade on April 16th.

Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix

Formula 1 fans are already revving their engines for the second edition of the Miami Grand Prix. As a round of the Formula 1 Championship, the three-day race takes place at the Miami International Autodrome, a temporary circuit around Hard Rock Stadium. The event boasts driver appearances, an Exclusive Pit Lane Walk, Guided Track Tours, and VIP Access Passes.

Miami Fashion Week

The 23rd Annual Miami Fashion Week, is scheduled to kick off Tuesday, May 20th, and will descend on such posh venues as Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and the Frost Science Museum. The United States and Latin American art worlds collide at this event that brings together fashion, beauty, music, art, charity, and more. In 2022, the festival welcomed special guest Missoni, along with top designers including Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Benito Santos, El Sanchez, Rene by RR, and Naeem Khan.

Rolling Loud

Billing itself as “the largest hip-hop festival in the world”, Rolling Loud welcomes legendary rappers, celebrated MCs, and up-and-comers to its festival. Although headliners have yet to be announced at the writing of this post, festival goers are clamoring to get their hands on tickets that go on sale on Friday, July 29th. In 2022, headliners included Nicki Minaj, A$AP Rocky, and Future, along with legends like Fat Joe and Busta Rhymes.

Art Basel Miami Beach

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Art Basel Miami Beach returns to the Miami Beach Convention Center and its satellite outposts in 2023. Modern and contemporary art from 283 galleries from 38 countries makes this one of the largest and most comprehensive contemporary art events anywhere in the world. In 2023, art will be divided and curated into seven sections – Galleries, Positions, Nova, Survey, Edition, Meridians, and Kabinett. 2022 saw such breakout artists as Didier Williams, Ilana Savdie, and Maria Cruz Palileo. Art aficionados are currently making lists of “who to watch” in 2023.
